DeMarsico-Kienzle also discussed fundraising efforts .
“ We will announce a raffled event in the upcoming weeks as well , in order to raise the additional costs for the needed insurance . We appreciate your helping us throughout the process , and look forward to having our non-profit a part of the community ,” DeMarsico-Kienzle said . Commissioner Ian Fisher commented about the raffled event .
“ Just so you know , there ’ s a gaming permit that you ’ ll need , so keep that in mind ,” Fisher said .
Recreation Leader Denise Mazzeo explained further .
“ When you are ready to do the raffle , there ’ s a website you can go on for the New Jersey Legalized Games of Chance Commission . That will guide you through the process of getting your state raffle license number . Once you have that , then you ’ ll apply for the raffle license — if you ’ re holding the raffle in Hammonton — in the clerk ’ s office , and we can help you with all of that ,” Mazzeo said .
In other business , while discussing the minutes from the commission ’ s previous meeting , Councilman Sam Rodio inquired about Hammonton Little League ’ s annual open public meeting which is to be held “ in September in the boy ’ s major press box .”
“ They discuss members , elections , financial statements ; Hammonton Little League financial year is October 1 through September . Will they announce this ?” Rodio asked .
Commissioner James Borda , who serves on the board of Hammonton Little League , responded .
“ Yes . We put it in The Gazette a month before ,” Borda said . Rodio asked for clarification . “ So in August ?” he said . Borda replied in the affirmative , and Rodio continued .
“ So , when we come back in July , you ’ ll probably know by then . Could you let us know ? I ’ d like to know that ,” Rodio said .

Borda again responded in the affirmative , and commented further on the meeting , noting that anyone interested in becoming a Hammonton Little League board member may petition prior to the meeting by contacting Hammonton Little League President David Cappuccio .
“ Call Dave or send him an email . Let him know that you ’ re interested in becoming a board member — and there ’ s going to be plenty of openings ,” Borda said .
Later in the meeting , Councilman Steven Furgione gave an update regarding the turf field at the Boyer Avenue Recreational Park .
“ They made a formal submission to Pinelands . I had [ Public Works Manager ] Bob Vettese follow up and work with Pinelands , as well , for the drip , and they should have this situated by the end of this month ,” Furgione said .
Furgione said that if the application to the Pinelands Commission is approved by the end of June , construction can commence on July 1 . If it is not , Furgione said , then the fields will not be ready for the fall .
“ I know the bleachers are ordered ; they ’ re supposed to be there in August — so now , it ’ s up to Pinelands ,” Furgione said . Rodio commented further . “ They work on 30 days . If they make this meeting , if not , it ’ s another 30 days , then it ’ ll go into August , so it ’ ll be next year because they can ’ t build it that quick ,” Rodio said . Furgione concurred . “ If Pinelands comes back and says ‘ go ,’ they can break ground July 1 and go . It ’ s six weeks from the time they put a shovel in the ground to finish . Then , the basin work they can do afterwards — so it just depends on when they say ‘ go ,’” Furgione said .
Chairperson Lou Cappuccio reiterated the timeframe .
“ So if they don ’ t say it until next month , then it ’ s six weeks from that ,” he said . Rodio confirmed . “ That brings you into the season . You ’ re two weeks into September ,” Rodio said .
Furgione said that he was hopeful that a more definitive time frame would be available soon .
“ We ’ ll have a better handle on it by the end of June ,” Furgione said .
Commissioner Paul Ordille said that the construction company for the project is “ patiently waiting .”
“ They ’ re going to put the crew in there , and they ’ re ready to roll ,” Ordille said .
During her report , Mazzeo updated the Commission on the progress with the proposed pickleball courts at Hammonton Middle School . Mazzeo said that Adams ,
