According to a source from the 150th Engineer Co., the soldiers will be returning late on July 1. “The parade is canceled because the soldiers are leaving too late from Fort Dix on July 1,” Sgt. Juan Plata told The Gazette on June 24. Plata said the soldiers will be leaving Fort Dix at 3 p.m. on July 1 and arriving in Hammonton between 4 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. DiDonato said obtaining donations from businesses and individuals for the picnic was “easy.” He told The Gazette they would be used for the picnic. “Within an hour or two I had everything I needed. (609) 561-1616 Man airlifted following accident Wednesday, June 25, 2014 • The Hammonton Gazette • Page 3 by Gabe Donio HAMMONTON—A man was airlifted to AtlantiCare Atlantic City for treatment of his injuries following a two-vehicle accident at 2:13 p.m. on June 18, Hammonton Police Captain Nick Salvatore said. The accident occurred at the intersection of the White Horse Pike (Route 30) and Eighth Street, Salvatore said. Joseph Pigott, 30, of Williamstown was traveling eastbound on Route 30 in a utility pickup truck when he collided with James Ream Sr., 57, of Richboro, Pa., who was traveling northbound on Eighth Street in a Honda Ridgeline pickup truck, Salvatore said. “Mr. Ream did sustain serious injuries. He was airlifted to AtlantiCare Atlantic City,” Salvatore said. Salvatore said the accident is being investigated by Officer Ryan Witczak and Cpl. John Panarello. No summonses have been issued, pending the investigation, Salvatore said. In other police business, fire and police personnel responded to a house fire call at 2:05 p.m. on June 21 on the 400 block of S. Egg Harbor Road, Salvatore said. The Hammonton Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the fire after a short time. The fire is being investigated by Hammonton Detective Sgt. Edward Slimm and fire personnel, Salvatore said. Police arrested two people for shoplifting at the Hammonton Walmart at 5:39 on June 18, Salvatore said. John Fatcher, 31, of Mays Landing was charged with shoplifting at the Hammonton Walmart, 55 S. White Horse Pike, and for a warrant from Egg Harbor Twp. in the amount of $1,500, Salvatore said. Salvatore said Fatcher was placed in the Atlantic County Jail in lieu of bail. On the same date and at the same time, Janie Rodriguez, 21, of Hammonton, was charged with shoplifting at the Hammonton Walmart and released on her own recognizance, Salvatore said. Officer Donald Kunen was the arresting officer, Salvatore said. On June 22 at 6:14 p.m. following a vehicle stop on E. Orchard Street, Santos Barahona of Hammonton was arrested, Salvatore said. Barahona is charged with being an unlicensed driver, unregistered vehicle, uninsured motorist and was found to have a warrant in the amount of $5,000 from Hammonton. He was placed in Atlantic County Jail in lieu of bail by Officer Jason Rigby, Salvatore said. by Paul J.
