ing the past year. even though he had a
good understanding of his opportunity to be
selected within the first 60 picks of the
draft, the moment still hasn’t completely
sunk in for him yet.
“i really don’t think it will, and not until
i get out there on my own. One of my
friends that got drafted texted me and said
‘Man, we are professional athletes,’ and i
was like ‘Wow, it is crazy to think about it
like that.’ that whole night was so surreal.
it was unbelievable, and it was a lot to grasp
at one time. i think piece-by-piece, day-byday it is starting to hit me more and more,”
Gatto said.
Getting drafted by the angels is also special to Gatto because Millville native and
fellow Cape atlantic League baseball alum
Mike trout is a star centerfielder for the
team today. He said he was somewhat surprised the angels selected him.
“Supposedly they were really interested
in me, but they kept it low key. We didn’t
