HAMMONTON — At the May 23 meeting of the Hammonton Parks and Recreation Commission , Councilman Steven Furgione said that the aquatic herbicide spraying scheduled for Hammonton Lake is on indefinite hold .
“ The lake spraying is not going to happen ,” Furgione said .
Furgione said that the town applied to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection ( DEP ) for the appropriate permit , which also had to be reviewed by the Pinelands Commission .
“ Pinelands came back with a two-page letter stating that there ’ s three different types of what they called bladderwort that ’ s endangered , so we have to bring a consultant in now ,” Furgione said . Councilman Sam Rodio said that the Pinelands would not fur-
