Funeral professionals discuss pre-planning arrangements
FUNERAL , from Page 1 Carnesale Funeral Home and Marinella Funeral Home , each of which offers top-notch services to their customers .
Landolfi Funeral Home is located at 237 Bellevue Ave . Their owner , Robert Landolfi , believes there are a number of benefits to someone planning their funeral ahead of time .
“ It makes things a lot easier on the family . The person who you ’ re making arrangements for can get exactly what their wishes were . Sometimes the people left behind might not like cremation or burial , but if those were the wishes of the person who passes away , they ’ ll almost always abide by that wish . It lets the deceased get exactly what it is they want and what fits their budget ,” Landolfi said .

SALONS , from Page 3 ter that uses all natural and organic products .
“ Tanning beds aren ’ t safe , and the older you get , the more you wise up . In order to still get the same look , I thought to myself . ‘ Why not ?’” Mortellite said .
Spray tans provide the same finished look as tanning beds and do not present any long-term risk of developing skin cancer . At times , Mortellite has thought about adding to the services offered at her location but ultimately decided against it .
“ I think sometimes in this economy it ’ s normal to see someone doing well and a need for something . You start to get in your head that anyone can do it , so everyone does . When there ’ s too much of a good thing , there ’ s too much of a good thing . I stick to what I know and what I ’ m good at ,” Mortellite said .
He said the average age of a person preplanning a funeral is 65 to 75 .
“ I see a lot of people doing it in the 65- to 75-year-old range . Once people start to retire they think about it a lot more than before ,” Landolfi said . Like Landolfi , Michael Carnesale of Carnesale Funeral Home , located at 202 S . Third St ., is in agreement that preplanning has many benefits .
“ A lot of times , some people don ’ t talk about funerals and what it is they want . One child may want to be cremated while another would rather be buried . You get to do exactly as you want … With the way society is today , everybody is a little more spread out . If you make arrangements on your own you ’ re not tied to any type of time constraints once you pass away . If somebody passes on a Sunday , you ’ re rushing to make arrangements on a Monday …. Families tell me all the time that once they have a funeral preplanned , the benefits are really there . All you really have to do is decide what day to do the funeral and arrange the flowers and a luncheon ,” Carnesale said .
Marinella Funeral Home is also located downtown at 102 N . Third St . Funeral Director Nick La-
Guardia shares similar thoughts to Carnesale and Landolfi .
“ It makes everything a very easy process and presents a peace of mind ,” LaGuardia said .
LaGuardia said that once one member of a family preplans his or her funeral , other relatives consider the idea and take action .
Chief : Watch for thefts from automobiles

HAMMONTON — Residents of the Carriage Way and the Traditions at Blueberry Ridge ( Pulte Homes ) neighborhoods are being asked to be aware that there have been several thefts from open vehicles in the overnight hours between May 9 and May 10 , Hammonton Police Chief Robert Jones said .
“ I want to urge residents not to keep valuables in their vehicles , to keep their vehicles locked and to contact the Hammonton Police Department if they see anything suspicious ,” Jones said .
Officer Charles Sbarra III was the investigating officer , Jones said .
“ A greater number of people choose to be cremated today than they did 20 or 30 years ago . If things are preplanned , it gives the deceased the chance to have that known … The biggest thing that I see is people telling me that after they do it once , it just makes more sense . I start to see a trickle-down effect within families where they ’ ll often preplan everything from there on ,” LaGuardia said .
As you can see , preplanning a funeral service allows not only the deceased to have his or her wishes granted but allows the family to avoid unnecessary stresses during the initial grieving period .
