“ We are thankful to have the vital participation of Hammonton ’ s Fire Department , who are bringing in both current and historic fire trucks from around the region . They are also using their contacts to attract historic cars and other vehicles from every era of Hammonton ’ s history . We have a great line-up for the Community Picnic , and we ’ re really looking forward to having all interested groups and even individuals march along with us in this event ,” Bob Schenk , the committee ’ s business chair , said .
The committee says that groups and individuals can march in contemporary or historic costume , and organizational floats and decorated vehicles are encouraged .
“ Everyone loves a parade , and Independence Day parades traditionally hold so much meaning and significance to Americans . This year holds enormous meaning for Hammontonians , and we want everyone to come out and show their feeling for our hometown and country . The Centennial Parade in 1966 is still recalled by town residents , and the stories about it are still passed down to the younger generations . This is an opportunity for all of the terrific civic , religious and other community groups in our great town to come out , be recognized and be part of an event that will be similarly remembered ,” Dan Bachalis , the committee ’ s recording secretary , said .
