resentative Tom Urgo had gone before the
commission at a previous meeting and
asked for help financing the cost of 100 seat
cushions for the club.
“They came with a request to purchase
100 seat cushions for the folding chairs in
the Canoe Club… after discussing things
for a while we [the commission] came up
with a decision to contribute to 25 percent
of the cost of 50 of the cushions,” Bachalis
said.
Bachalis suggested the idea of reconsidering the commission’s original proposal
and considering financing 25 percent of the
100 seat cushions as he felt that the club
had a higher attendance to events than he
originally thought.
“I was over at the Canoe Club to drop off
some other materials… and I was talking to
Tom Urgo who’s kind of the head of their
volunteer group and he presented on the
issue and they indeed, they do have a hundred and, I feel like I counted 102 or 104
folding chairs there and there are occasions
when they get a lot of people in there and
frankly more than the 50 or so people I
thought… So I was thinking about if we
could reconsider, maybe cover a quarter of
the cost of the hundred, the original hundred they wanted to buy,” Bachalis said.
The commission ultimately decided that
their original proposal was the best option
at this time.
“We made a commitment for $200 based
on 50 chairs, my suggestion would be don’t
renege on that, and just stay with
the $200,” commissioner Paul Ordille said.
In an update on the dog parks,
commission chairman Lou Cappuccio announced on behalf of
himself and Ordille, that they
would be donating a water fountain
for use at the dog park.
“Ordille Produce and Green
Giant are going to be donating the
water fountain and Monica’s found
one that we’ve agreed upon. Paul
and I talked about it and we really
