Sister Josephine Cartanza

Sr . Josephine Cartanza , MPf , 99 , died unexpectedly the morning of March 18 , 2017 , at St . Joseph Hall , Villa Walsh , Morristown .

Born and raised in Swedesboro , Sr . Josephine entered the religious teachers filippini on Sept . 18 , 1934 , invested on July 7 , 1935 , and made her final religious profession July 3 , 1938 . Sr . Josephine was awarded a Ba degree with a major in history from the College of St . elizabeth and received an Ma in Spanish from the Catholic University of Puerto rico which included studies in the University of Salamanca , Spain , and the University of Guadalajara , Mexico .

Sr . Josephine taught in the elementary grades at Our Lady of Sorrows and Holy rosary , Jersey City , taught on the secondary level at St . Joseph , Hammonton , 1947-71 ; Our Lady of Pompeii , Baltimore , Md ., 1973-76 ; Villa Walsh academy , Morristown , 1979 - 93 . for many summers , Sr . Josephine taught History at Villa Walsh College . Sister Josephine , a gifted and joy-filled educator , taught history for many years and , in her later years , excelled in teaching Spanish . these subjects were her forte and the gift that shaped her students . teaching was her passion , and this was complemented by her intense love , care and concern for her students . Consequently , this earned her the deep respect and affection of her pupils . from 1976 – 1979 , Sister Josephine cared for her aged mother and then her dying brother from 1993 - 1995 . When Sr . Josephine returned to Villa Walsh in 1995 , she assisted Sister Clare testa , her dear friend , in the Province archives and assisted with household responsibilities , always reliable , happy to serve and never idle . after a fall injury , she became a resident at St . Joseph Hall in 2007 .

Sr . Josephine was predeceased by her father , Harry and her mother , Josephine ( Cutulie ) Cartanza ; her siblings , Grace Meyers , and rita , Michael , Mary , Phillip and alfred Cartanza . She is survived by loving nieces and nephews . a Mass of Christian Burial , celebrated by the rev . ron Sordillo , chaplain for St . Joseph Hall , was held on tuesday , March 21 , 2017 , in the Saint Lucy Chapel at Villa Walsh , Morristown . interment followed the liturgy at the ave Maria Cemetery . in lieu of flowers , donations in memory of Sr . Josephine Cartanza may be sent to St . Robert C . Brining Sr .

robert C . Brining Sr ., 52 , of Collings Lakes , died March 19 .

He was born in Camden and lived in Collings Lakes . He was a carpet mechanic for Bally ’ s Hotel & Casino and a member of Local # 255 . He enjoyed coaching little league baseball and football in Buena . robert is survived by his children , robert C . Jr . and amanda DeStefano ; his grandchildren , Madison DeStefano , Peyton and Noah Brining ; his siblings , George Brining ( Donna ) and Janis evangilista ; and the mother of his children , Catherine Santa . family and friends attended services on Saturday , March 27 at the Marinella funeral Home , 102 N . third St ., Hammonton . Vincenzo Polizzotto

Vincenzo Polizzotto , 88 , of Hammonton , died peacefully on Sunday , March 26 , 2017 , at home .

Born in Sicily , italy , he was a Hammonton resident for more than 50 years . He worked for W . B . Kessler Clothing Co . in Hammonton as a presser . Mr . Polizzotto was a member of the amalgamated Clothing Workers Union . He enjoyed going to the casinos , playing cards and gardening . He especially enjoyed walking around his daughter and son-in-law ’ s farm and helping out in the packing house .

Mr . Polizzotto was predeceased by his daughter , Salvatrice Sciortino and his sister , Saveria Polizzotto . He is survived by three daughters , Josephine Martinelli and her husband , Joseph , Silvana Polizzotto , all of Hammonton , Maria Duble and her husband , Jon of Mays Landing ; his grandchildren , Dominique Martinelli , Joey Martinelli Jr ., Carmela Santanello all of Hammonton , Michael DiGuglielmo , Jonathan and alexis Duble of Mays Landing ; two great-grandchildren , angelina and Mark Santanello ; his brother , Giuseppe Polizzotto and his wife , Giuseppa Ventimiglia , and several nieces and nephews all in Sicily , italy . relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Saturday , april 1 , 2017 , 9 a . m . - 10:30 a . m . at the Carnesale funeral Home , 202 S . third Street , Hammonton . a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a . m . in St . Angel Luis Malave angel Luis Malave , 53 , of Hammonton , died suddenly on Monday , March 20 , 2017 .

Born in aguas – Buenas , Puerto rico , he moved to Hammonton in 1973 . He previously worked for Michael DiMeo farms . He was predeceased by his parents , Hipolito and Petronia Malave Hernandez . He is survived by his brother , Hipolito Malave of Pleasantville ; three sisters , esther Malave of Mullica twp ., Lourdes Malave of Hammonton and Luz Galvez of Hammonton and many nieces and nephews . family and friends attended a funeral Service on Monday , March 27 at the Marinella funeral Home , 102 N . third St ., Hammonton . NJ . Burial was in Greenmount Cemetery , 124 S . first rd .,

Elizabeth ( Betty ) Rizzotte

elizabeth ( Betty ) rizzotte , 85 , of atco , died on Saturday , March 18 , 2017 .

Betty was the daughter of Nancy and tom rizzotte of Hammonton . She attended Hammonton High School and Beaver College . Upon graduation , she worked as an editor at a Philadelphia magazine . after attaining her master ’ s degree , Betty became a teacher in the Philadelphia school system . She later did substitute teaching in Winslow township . Betty ’ s greatest joy was working in her beautiful garden .

She was predeceased by her father , mother and her sister , Nancy . She is survived by nieces , nephews and many good friends . Betty will be sadly missed by her wonderful caregivers .

Her funeral Mass at the St . anthony ’ s of Padua Church in Hammonton was private , as to Betty ’ s wishes . arrangements made by the Leroy P . Wooster funeral Home and Crematory .

Kevin rodio , of Spellcaster Productions & event Services , is donating Kathedral event Center , which held its grand opening on March 25 , as the venue for the event .

frederic “ fred ” Henry Long Jr ., 63 , of Haddon township , formerly of Hammonton , died on Saturday , March 25 , 2017 . fred worked for La Salle University and the Girl Scouts in facilities Management for many years and most recently for Conicelli Honda . He touched the lives of many and will be missed by all .

He is survived by his mother , Lorraine Payne of Hammonton ; his children , Dr . Christopher J . Long ( Dr .
