DiDonato also later introduced
a motion regarding the state and
national constitutions.
“i’d like to make a motion that
tonight, this council approve and
support—more than approve, sup-
port—the Constitution of the
United States and the constitution
of the state of New Jersey in its en-
tirety,” DiDonato said.
Before voting, Councilman
Hears from Second amendment supporters
Steven furgione asked for clarifi-
cation.
“Mayor, just to be clear, this in-
cludes all amendments of the U.S.
Constitution?” furgione asked.
DiDonato affirmed that the res-
olution referred to both documents
in their entirety.
the resolution passed.
During the second public por-
tion of the meeting, adam Houde
of egg Harbor twp. approached
council about the atlantic County
2a (Second amendment) Sanctu-
ary. Houde said that the atlantic
County 2a Sanctuary was started
on December 23, 2019 in response
to what they believe to be exces-
sive legislation.
“Law-abiding gun owners don’t
want any more nonsense gun rules
... Nothing even really would ben-
efit the state of New Jersey. it
doesn’t take down any criminal ac-
tion. it’s only harming the law-
abiding gun owners of the state,” Houde said.
House presented members of
council with a copy of a resolution
drafted by his organization which
they have been bringing before
various municipal bodies in the
county.
“We are looking to see if you
would adopt the resolution—it
doesn’t have to be tonight—but
it’s for you to review, if you
haven’t already received any oth-
ers at this point in time,” Houde
said.

council to discuss the topic, noting
that individuals with the move-
ment recently attended a meeting
of the atlantic County Board of
Chosen freeholders as well as
other such bodies.
“as every week goes by, people
just like me keep attending these
meetings so that people can be
heard,” Santoro said.
Santoro also asked council to
consider the resolution Houde pre-
sented to them.
“We know it’s not binding. We
know that this chamber, and every
town and every municipality, has
to essentially abide by whatever
laws are handed down by the state.
But, if we make our voice loud
enough, if we scream—they al-
ways say the squeaky wheel gets
the oil; it’s funny, sometimes it
works—and if i can keep making
just a little bit of noise, and this
group can keep making just a little
bit of noise, all for good—not for
anything other than that—i think
that the people win ... so please,
look over the resolution, and see
what you can to do maybe adopt it
and support us in our journey,”
Santoro said.
