HAMMONTON — The Douglass Day Transcribe-a-thon was held at Stockton University in Kramer Hall on Feb . 14 to celebrate Douglass Day and Black History Month . Douglass Day is an annual day of remembrance for the life of Frederick Douglass on his chosen birthday , Valentine ’ s Day , and participants are invited to join the Douglass Day Organization for a transcribe-athon of historic documents , according to Stockton University .

This year ’ s transcribe-a-thon event introduced participants to transcribe a collection of digitized papers that were left by Mary Ann Shadd Cary , an activist , journalist , teacher , intellectual and lawyer who was an iconic figure in black women ’ s history , according to five-year plan for the parish . As the church and community is recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic , Rivera is planning for the future and charting the course such as improvements to the buildings , adding and reorganizing ministries and
