positions on the board and other school
committees.
“It is very hard to explain. I graduated in
1963 and St. Joe means as much to me
today as it did then and maybe even more. I
loved my school then and I have that same
strong feeling of family when I think of St.
Joe. The fact that St. Joe is honoring me in
this way is extremely important, and it
means a great deal to me. It is about giving
back. St. Joe did a lot for me. It didn’t just
give me an education, it gave me faith, a
feeling of family and something I could always go back to,” Durney said.
Sacco has been involved with St. Joseph
High School in some capacity for more than
40 years. He is a 1974 graduate of the
school, and a longtime instructor and coach,
most known for his position as the head
football coach since 1982. He is being honored for dedicating 33 years of himself to
the local catholic high school, and to the students and athletes of the school.
“It is flattering but I look at it as this is
what I am supposed to be doing. That is the
way I was raised. I have always been the
same way. If I am going to do something I
am going to do it 1,000 percent, if not I am
not going to do it at a
