nine years.
During the course of a 20-year
time period, Howell had three kidney transplants and he said those
procedures worked until about 12
years ago.
“The transplants came from siblings: my sister and two brothers
donated their kidneys and it gave
me about 21 years of good activity
level and freedom. I was on some
medications that had side effects
that I had to deal with, most of
which involved some superficial
skin cancers that were a reaction
to the medication,” Howell said.
Howell stated during the time
he was first diagnosed with
chronic kidney disease he realized
he was going to encounter some
hurdles along the way.
“They had to figure out a way
how to clear the toxins. The first
transplant was very obvious and I
had some willing donors, so it was
a perfect match. I always have
tried to figure out a way for all of
it to work for a happy and healthy
lifestyle. Fortunately, it has all
worked out that way,” Howell
said.
