town to help others in need during

“We tend to cooperate with
other churches in town such as the
Catholics and the Presbyterians,
and look for ways that we can be
helpful to them. There is also an
organization called Hammonton
Helps, and they are also helpful.
So when people individually come
to our attention, we look for ways
to work together in order to do
what needs to be done. Sometimes
it is a matter of getting them to Atlantic City [Rescue Mission]. On
occasion, we will provide for them

Pastor Ernie Williams said.
Williams hasn’t noticed any increased activity of individuals
needing shelter or food during the
past several weeks.
“That doesn’t mean it doesn’t
happen in other places. If people
came to us, it would be for those
that need money for a motel room
or something like that,” he said.
Williams spoke about a Family
Promise Program currently working through Atlantic County, and
how they will provide shelter for
the homeless.
“We have become one of the
sponsoring churches for this. The
goal is that to look for some public
funding, together with private volunteers, but using the space of various churches around the county
that will house people who are
homeless for a whole week at a
time, particularly families. I was
part of that from another church
where I came from, and we did
that for many years,” Williams
said.
The Hammonton Family Success Center, located on Bellevue
Avenue, has received some calls
about house fires in recent weeks,
but for the most part, it has been
