had been an honor to serve as solicitor for these past
several years. I know that I speak for all of us when
I say that Mr. Malinsky was an excellent solicitor for
the planning board and the zoning board. As a councilman, I couldn’t be happier to have him as our
town solicitor. But I know that on the planning
board, he was a very good solicitor,” Gribbin said.
All of the following members were elected as officers for the 2016 year. Edward Marinelli will serve
as the board chairman, while Gordon Pherribo will
serve as vice chairman. James Schroeder was elected
as the new planning board solicitor following Malinsky’s move to act as Hammonton Town Solicitor.
Adams, Rehmann and Heggan Associates will act as
the planning board engineer. The position of Board
Planner/Traffic Engineer was given to Kevin Dixon
of Dixon Associates. Finally, Patricia Berenato was
chosen as the secretary.
The board heard one application for a minor subdivision located at Block 2708, Lots 2 and 12, Zone
DT-1 at 215 E Pleasant St. The application was submitted by former Hammonton resident Merrie Jo Pitera. Frederick J. De Clement acted as attorney while
Lance Landgraf spoke to the board regarding the
variances requested.
“She seeks to create another lot. There’s a house
on the property that’s used currently for an antique
store. There’s, off of Lot 2, a barn that is two-and-a
half-stories. The plan is to compose three cottage
houses and the barn would be an accessory house,
an accessory to the lot,” De Clement said.
Landgraf explained to the board exactly what the
minor subdivisions will do to alter the current layout
of the lot.
“The minor subdivision is currently two lots. You
have Lot 2, which is odd shaped, and you have Lot
12 on the corner. We’re going to create Lot 4 out of
those two parts,” Landgraf said.
After hearing both De Clement and Landgraf’s
testimony, Dr. Michael Hozik told the board that he
believed these buildings to be somewhat of historic
landmarks. Hozik and other members agreed that
under the revised form-based codes that the board
implemented the preservation of historic buildings
is something that should be considered important to
the town.
Both Schroeder and Hammonton Town Engineer
Bob Vettese spoke about the variances and were in
agreeance with all that Landgraf presented to the
board. The requested variances were unanimously
approved.
Chairman Marinelli personally congratulated all
of the members on their appointments for 2016. The
planning board will have their next meeting on February 3.
