HAMMONTON—The Hammonton Parks and Recreation
Commission met on January 19
for their first meeting of 2016.
At the start of the meeting, Alberta Eppler was unanimously
voted to continue serving as the
commission’s secretary. New
members Michael Ryan and Ian
Fisher were introduced as alternates and will be present when
acting members are not able to attend. Otto Hernandez will also be
attending this year’s meetings on
behalf of the Hammonton Lake
Water Quality Subcommittee. The
commission will continue to meet
on the third Tuesday of every
month.
Men’s Softball representative
Lee Thompson presented the
commission with a request for use
of facilities for the upcoming 2016
season. Councilman Michael Pullia plans to reach out to Public
Works Manager/Business Administrator Jerome Barberio to discuss
the league’s insurance policies.
Commission chairman Lou
Cappuccio stated that one of the
most important goals in 2016 will
be to make sure that Hammonton
Lake Park is policed correctly regarding its ongoing parking troubles. There have been numerous
problems with people parking illegally during sporting events,
and the town is very much aware
of the issue. Cappucio was also
very excited and hopeful about
the completion of a dog park,
something he said many people
throughout town are looking forward to using.
There was a brief discussion
about the ongoing plans regarding
the naming of the triangle in front
of town hall. Currently, the section that houses the town clock
and the Dr. Anthony Chiofalo
Fountain is set to be named Dr.
Anthony Chiofalo Triangle Plaza.
The group plans to continue discussion at next month’s meeti
