BUILDING “MUZAFFER BEY”
The “Muzaffer Bey” lodgings (“konaki”) at 46 Mark-
ou Botsari Street, at the northeast corner of the
Sunne district, is one of the oldest buildings in the
Old City that have survived. According to sources, it
was built in 1848 by a Muslim landowner in the area
and it retains elements of local folk architecture. It
was constructed of stone and consists of a ground
floor and two more floors, forming a shape of a
paralleologram missing its bottom line. It has large
rows of windows and its rooms are located on the
upper two floors around the large central reception
area. The interior of the house has significant deco-
ration, wall and ceiling paintings. The building is
protected perimetrically by a wall in order to prevent
visibility from the road.
ΚΤΉΡΙΟ «ΜΟΥΖΑΦΈΡ ΜΠΈΗ»
To «κονάκι του Μουζαφέρ Μπέη»
στην οδό Μάρκου Μπότσαρη 46,
στο βορειοανατολικό άκρο της
συνοικίας Σούννε, είναι ένα από τα
παλιότερα κτήρια της Παλιάς Πό-
λης που έχουν διασωθεί. Σύμφωνα
με τις πηγές, κατασκευάστηκε το
1848 από μουσουλμάνο κτηματία
της περιοχής και έχει στοιχεία της
ντόπιας λαϊκής αρχιτεκτονικής. Έχει
κατασκευαστεί από λιθοδομή και
αποτελείται από ισόγειο και 2 ορό-
φους, ενώ σχηματίζει ένα «Π». Δι-
αθέτει μεγάλες σειρές παραθύρων,
ενώ τα δωμάτια του, βρίσκονται
στους δύο ορόφους γύρω από το
μεγάλο κεντρικό χώρο υποδοχής.
Το εσωτερικό φέρει σημαντική
γραπτή διακόσμηση, τοιχογραφίες
και οροφογραφίες. Το κτήριο προ-
στατεύεται περιμετρικά από τοίχο,
ώστε να εμποδίζεται η ορατότητα
από τον δρόμο.
