3 • You can take a walk in the University Forest of 4 Pertouli, which extends from the western slopes of Koziakas to the northeastern slopes of Boundoura, in a height of 1.150-2.060 m. • You can combine a visit to the Ski Resort with a walk in the meadows of Pertouli, which are crossed by an amazing small river, Xerias, that springs from mount Koziakas and then is divided into tributaries (photo 4). • The small picturesque church of Saint Apostles in Jaja is certainly worth a visit. From there, a natural path leads to the “Christodoulos Xatzipetros” shelter, with a view to the entire Plain of Thessaly, but also the tops of Pindos! • You can take a walk to Aspropotamos… Mythical Achelous, son of the Ocean, has its sources in south- ern Pindos, which it crosses, and its passage “marks” the physiognomy of the place, “defining” the villages of Pindos that take its name: “The villages of Aspro- potamos” (photo 1&2). • The stone bridges, many of which were built during the Turkish rule, still grip us with the solid beauty of their imposing arches and the elaborate bonding of the chiseled stones (photo 3). One of them is the stone-built bridge of Smixi or Path of the Stairway, built in 1650-1652. It is certainly worth visiting some of the many churches with enormous historical, reli- gious and architectural value. 91
