PETROTO BRIDGE
About 80km from Karditsa , at west Argithea and at an altitude of 650 meters , you will find Petroto , for which the archeological findings have showed that it has been inhabited since the Roman and Byzantine period . Among the must-see monuments are the three important bridges of the area : the arched stone bridge of Petrotos , built in the 13th-14th century at Poupi and is the most photogenic bridge in the area , “ Koutsokamara ”, the multi-arched bridge at Sykia and Korakou Bridge , built in 1514-1515 by Vissarion , who was the Metropolitan of Larissa and it is the biggest singlearched bridge not only in Greece , but also in the Balkan region . The bridge was constructed with the contribution of expatriate Greeks , but was blown up by the rebels during the Greek Civil War . Other significant sights are the House of Karathanassis at Petroto and the House of Tsioumas at the settlement of Aghios Dimitrios , with the characteristic embrasures .
