Born June 27, 1949 in New York City, Vera Ellen Wang was raised by her two parents Florence Wu and Cheng Ching Wang. Once old enough, she went on to study at Friends seminary and graduated from Chapin school in 1967. She went on to attend the university of Paris and studied art history at Sarah Lawrence College. After graduating she was hired by Vouge as an editor, serving as for 17 years. She resigned and began work with Ralph Lauren. After two years of partnership, she began her independent bridal wear collections. Her work has been worn by all from American royalty to celebrities. Her list of clients includes Kim Kardashian-West, Khloe Kardashian and Ivanka Trump. Many of her designs find inspiration from her heritage, designing dress embroidered with Chinese style embellishments.

He hasn’t talked much on his younger years, but from what is known, he joined the American army and served his time before resigning and beginning work as a sale assistant in a tie company. In 1967 he made a deal with his employer and designed his line of ties. In 1968, Ralph named his first full line of clothes under the name of Polo. By 1969, he had his own in-store boutique in Bloomingdales. He has been featured on the cover of over 100 global magazine companies, including Architectural Digest, Vouge and Time. On September 18, 2018, he celebrated the 50th anniversary with a large-scale fashion show. On this occasion, he had guests such as Oprah Winfrey, Hillary Clinton, and Kanye West.
