The Expansion of Hip Hop

Herc’s was invited to a back to school party and had more people attended then he had during his DJing. THe success of the party would be the start of a grassroots musical revolution, fully six years before the term “hip hop” even entered the popular vocabulary. The major artists who were influenced by DJ Kool Herc were “hip hop pioneers” named Afrika Bambaataa and Grandmaster Flash.

1980's 1990's

"Golden Age Hip Hop"

Late 1980's and early 1990's, hip hop music, which is when artists and hip-hop musicians came together. The era, often referred to as THe Golden Age of Hip Hop, brought about the development and eventual mainstream success of hip-hop music.

The most known artistes were LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, MC Hammer, N.W.A, D.M.X and more. Referring to the golden age in the book How to Rap says, “that era bred rappers like a Big Daddy Kane, a KRS-One, a Rakim, a Chuck D…their rapping capability and ability – these dudes were phenomenal.”
