Different world events cause people to move to a better place in search of a fresh start. Events such as famine, drought, war, and other disasters could be some causes of immigration. World events impact how many people move out of their country.
When America was first being settled, most of its population was made of immigrants from Europe. Americans welcomed immigrants to help settle the vast, new land and to increase their country’s power. To get people to move to America, the U.S. provided labor contracts and land to immigrants who would come work in America, such as the Chinese and the Irish who helped build railroads.
During World War 1, many people tried moving to America. They feared the immense battle would come to their home. To stop the giant flow of immigrants coming to America, the United States made laws that put a limit on the number of immigrants that can enter the United States.
During World War 2, the same fear consumed people in the Middle East. Adolf Hitler’s mad race for the extermination of the Jews was insane. Jewish people started running for their lives as the German army came for them. Many came to America’s shores and were forced to go back to the Middle East where they would be later captured.
In conclusion, the United States has had to put limits on the number of immigrants coming to the country. In recent events, war has been the main cause of immigration such as the Syrian Civil War and different terrorist activities. Therefore, the United States had to maintain the mass population of immigrants coming into America by putting limits on the amount of people coming through the borders each year.
