Within my organisation, we are working to implement all seven of these key characteristics and so far we’ve been successful at doing so. But it takes a top- down reorganisation and this is where corporate culture and the culture of a conscious business differs. In the latter, it is not just something to be observed and absorbed, it is a way of operating that defines the business itself. We have worked hard on implementing all four tenets into the association, and we launched an information campaign about conscious capitalism at last year’s annual conference, which took place in Malta in April 2016. The conference theme was dedicated to conscious capitalism with the title “Social Values | Better Business” and a series of breakout, plenary and discussion panels looked at how to implement the tenets of conscious capitalism across our industry. What has been so interesting and important for me during this steep learning curve has been just how important this approach is going to be for the future of business, capitalism and the earth itself. Generation Y is already demanding a change to the way we do business. Trust in global corporations is at an all-time low, yet we have no better system for the distribution of wealth and raising of happiness globally than capitalism. Change will come and conscious capitalism is the common force of good in that change. He joined the UK ARP as a founder member in 1986 and was approached by the Board to take on its administration in 1987. Last year, at the 30th anniversary celebration for the ARP, Tad was presented with an award for ‘An Outstanding Contribution to the Relocation Industry in the United Kingdom’. During this time Tad has led some of the most innovative initiatives for the industry. He has developed and implemented standards and ethics which now define the delivery of services across Europe. In forming the European Academy of Relocation Professionals in 2002, he was able to implement a standardised training programme across Europe, resulting in the MIM, MIM+ and MIM Fellowship certifications. Bringing four previously disparate associations together, (the SNPRM, ABRA, EuRA and ARP) has meant that the industry in Europe has been able to look towards achieving excellence that is the benchmark in all countries. The MIM programme has been delivered in EMEA, Americas and APAC. In 1998 Tad was the driving force behind the formation of EuRA, the European Relocation Association. In the last 18 years, EuRA has become a leading force in global mobility. Tad pushed to have a global standard of excellence for providers and in 2008 the EuRA Global Quality Seal was launched . The EuRA Global Quality Seal is an ISO equivalent independent audit process to ensure seamless service delivery and excellence in process management. 72 offices in 32 countries now have the Seal. Over the last five years he has worked with Oxford Brookes University to develop an online intercultural coaching programme, which has been successfully delivered across the world to more than 40 companies staff including independent relocation consultants and owner managers. The European International Relocation Congress is the leading knowledge-sharing and networking event in Europe and for the first time in 2016, EuRA led conferences in Africa and Asia, and in November 2017 will hold one in Dubai, Middle East. www.theglobalphoenix.org Page 15
