The Prescription for Self-love.
by Vicky Omifolaji
“Self-love requires you to be honest about your current choices and thought patterns and undertake new practices that reflect self-worth.” ~Caroline Kirk
I regard myself as a self-love expert in the sense that loving myself - the whole me, the total me has made it easy for me to love others. Also because I practice self-love on a daily basis, I don't have to wait for anyone to show me love. My joy and happiness aren't tied to anyone else.
When I say I practice self-love, I meant literally. Every morning after I finish getting ready to go to my office, my makeup on point, I always look at myself in the mirror, and I say "Vicky Omifolaji, you are a beautiful girl. You are beautifully and wonderfully made by God. He did an extra on you". I also make it a point to blow myself kisses. My husband commenting on my beauty becomes a bonus. This is just one of the self-love practices I adopted years ago and it is still working for me.
How can you give what you don't have? How can you love others if you don't even love the person that you are? Also, my favorite book says “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
