growth happens through change and not staying the same. When you keep that at the forefront of your mind you will have much easier times with change and uncertainty.
OPEN MINDED CURIOSITY CREATES CALM
The natural thought during a time like a pandemic is, these are not the typical changes we experience. This is truly novel and out of the ordinary. However, in this case, as well as more typical changes, we can approach the situation with curiosity. The beautiful thing about life is there is no possible way to know everything. This gives us a consistent ability to be curious about everything. However, often we are influenced by the first thing we read or see regarding a new topic. As stated earlier our brains are wired for certainty, or safety. If we have an impulse to focus on worst case scenario, we will attach ourselves to information that fuels that thinking. Many of us also have a need to be right so we deny ourselves the freedom to have an open mind and gather information. With this need to be right we develop strong emotions to our opinions or beliefs. As a result, we ask questions seeking confirmation rather than knowledge and information for the truth. When we come across information that does not fit what we believe we allow ourselves to become angry and/or upset. Keep in mind it is okay for us to open our minds and challenge our beliefs. It gives us an opportunity to not only learn something new but also to strengthen our current beliefs. We need to make sure those beliefs are rooted in faith and not fear.
