The important part of the equation is to take ACTION and then correct on the RE-ACTION. Step up and #BethatONE to lead the way for others to follow your courageous example.
Question 11: Who are your greatest influences or role models?
I’m a simple girl that relates to and adores Kelly Clarkson for her honesty and transparency. She won me over at a concert in Austin, Texas where she walked out on stage and said (in her cute Texas accent), “look yall, I’m pregnant and my feet hurt, I’m just gonna kick off my heels and go bare foot on stage if that is ok with yall.” She is REAL. She has openly talked about her recent divorce and the pain around it all. She talks openly about her weight struggles and doesn’t pretend to be something she isn’t. Her songs speak of pain she has endured, especially around her father. She never comes across fake and people relate to her because she is transparent. She influences me to be happy with myself and to discover I am loveable just as I am!
As for role models, hmmmm, this too is hard to answer because I see so many qualities in others that I admire and want to be like. I love the big heart of Keanu Reeves and how he GIVES to others from a place of authenticity. I love how Pastor Rudy Gonzales, Jason Sisneros and others give their time to fight back against human trafficking, even if it brings risks to them. I admire those that run non-profit organizations that truly care about others. I look up to people that state their beliefs without worrying if they are against the media or not. I respect Loren Michaels Harris and the way he gives to communities by educating todays youth and showing them they can create a better path for themselves. I admire people that are disciplined in their lives to eat healthy, exercise regularly and have the determination to put themselves first. I look up to people that have found courage to STEP UP AND SPEAK OUT about their pain to help others and I also look up to those people that have had cancer and had to face it all alone during this pandemic. Mostly, I admire my three children for their “forgiveness” and resilience. They accept me, love me, forgive me and support me every day. I am one of the luckiest mom’s in the world.
