Classic Bauhaus, but with a little something extra: NOMOS
Glashütte presents a new version of prize-winning timepiece
Tangente Update
The highly successful model Tangente neomatik 41 Update—
introduced for the first time in Basel in 2018—now features a
dial refined with ruthenium,
turning it elegantly dark. At the end of 2018, Tangente Update’s
innovative caliber tech- nology and reengineered date display
was awarded the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de
Genève, the most prestigious prize in the watchmaking
world. The iF Design Award 2019 followed shortly after at the
beginning of 2019.
Ruthenium is a rare platinum metal—and, as seen on this
highly elegant dial, shifts between dark gray and golden brown
with unwavering elegance, depending on the light conditions.
In contrast, the date ring, which is exclusive to NOMOS
Glashütte, has two red markers that frame the current date.
“The date shows what this caliber can do, and it gives you a
sense of the immense watch-making expertise that went into
its construction,” says NOMOS designer Michael Paul, 44, who
gave Tangente its Update. With DUW 6101, the watchmaking
company’s second in-house neomatik movement, NOMOS
Glashütte set a groundbreaking new standard.
And a very slender one at that, since the caliber measures just
3.6 millimeters in height.
The quick-change date function can be easily set with a slight
turn of the crown in either direction. With a diameter of 41
millimeters, Tangente Update is a large watch with a robust
steel case and sapphire crystal glass back, which displays the
richly decorated caliber at work within. Tangente neomatik 41
Update ruthenium, to use its full name, is available in selected
retailers from spring.
