THEGAYUK APRIL/MAY ISSUE 3 2014 INTERVIEW Am I right in thinking this is your first album in over 20 years? Well it’s my first album in about 15 – 20 years. *laughter* What took you so long young lady? *laughter* Well you know I got comfortable in life, and then one day my manager said ‘OK you gotta make a new album’, *laughter* and the time felt right so I said OK, lets do this. Now on the album you have covered one of my favourite songs and that’s Dream On by Aerosmith. What made you pick that song? Well my manager said we needed to do a cover version, and I said what about this, I've always liked this song, and you know it fits into the album perfectly I think, Steven Tyler hasn't heard it yet but we're trying to arrange that, I want to know what he thinks * laughter *. RuPaul A little birdie also told me you have been working with RuPaul again? Yes, I did a little song with him for his new album, and it’s called Can I Get An Amen. And that's his catchphrase from RuPaul's Drag Race... Yes, and you know it’s a really fun song as you would expect. You were also a guest Judge on Season 2 of Drag Race, how did you find it? Oh you know, we had so much fun * laughter * I’m a fan of the show, I still watch it. I don’t think I could be a permanent judge, Michelle (Visage) has that locked down and she really works it *laughter*. The It’s Raining Men Campaign I wanted to get a little serious face for a moment, you were quite active in the Twitter campaign and you were quite outspoken about the whole UKIP situation, what did you think of all that? Oh I thought he was nuts, crazy, how can anyone take that seriously, and of course I got behind it, it’s important that people like that get a response, and you guys did that in such a good way, It was a 36 ON UKIP’s David Silvester & the ‘gay flood’ I thought he was nuts, crazy, how can anyone take that seriously, and of course I got behind it, it’s important that people like that get a response, and you guys did that in such a good way, It was a real honour that the song was used, he was nuts, he should just go live in a box somewhere
