2014
INTERVIEW
The beginning of a New Year is
when most people start off a new
fitness regime, however, most of
those will have either stopped or
compromised their goals due to
lack of structure and perceived
lack of results. This can be due to
a variety of reasons such as; lack
of planning, lack of motivation,
desire for a quick fix and/or no
support.
through a couple of days.
Think about it, cooking 6
chicken breasts takes as long
as cooking two. Ensure you
base your meals around high
protein foods such as chicken,
fish or beef. Vegetables are the
little known key to unlocking the
nutrients in your other foods so
make sure you have plenty of
leafy green veg.
What you need is to have weekly
achievable targets, do not weigh
yourself every day and have a
weekly plan that includes diet as
the most important part of a new
fitness regime. The key to getting
long term and sustainable results
is getting rid of fad diets. These
may give very short term results
but are in no way sustainable. If
you want to lose fat and keep it
off, then the solution is simple.
A balanced diet and regular
exercise!
It can be hard to get and stay
motivated, especially during the
dark evenings of winter, however
half the battle is actually going to
the gym. You must remember
why you started on this journey,
and that was to get fit, get healthy
and get the body you always
wanted. Everyone in the gym is
in the same situation, so get
down there, motivate your fellow
sufferers and gain strength from
their encouragement. There will
be days when the couch seems
like a far better friend than your
trainer, but your trainer is there to
help you, support you and get
you the results you want.
The first step to achieving both
your short term goals and getting
on the right track for sustainable
progress is planning. Have a
structure that you can stick to.
Whether it is training once or
four times per week, it must fit in
with your current lifestyle and
commitments.
The second half of your planning
is all about your food
preparation. Most people don’t
think they have the time to
prepare their meals for a week,
but it is a lot easier than you
think. Take an hour on Sunday
evening, which is typically a
period of downtime for most
people before they start into a
new work week, to plan your
meals, whether that be ensuring
you have enough food,
vegetables and fruit, or cooking a
batch of meals that will get you
Everybody is on the quick fix
diet these days, whether it is the
pineapple juice diet, the cabbage
soup diet or the lemonade diet
(and no, I’m not making them
up). The problem with fad diets
is that they are just that, fads.
