Artisan Pavilion
The Artisan Pavilion will provide a place, in partnership with the Gullah Geechee Chamber of Commerce, for Gullah Geechee sweetgrass artisans to make and sell their work, share their traditions, and connect with visitors. Other regional artisans will also be welcomed to showcase their crafts.
Marsh Restoration Workspace
A hands-on workspace will engage volunteers in building galvanized wire reef structures that mimic natural oyster reefs. Used in the Conservancy’ s Living Shoreline projects, these structures create habitat for fish and crabs, improve water quality, stabilize marsh edges, reduce erosion, and strengthen resilience to sea-level rise.
Oyster Shell Recycling Station
A designated drop-off center will collect oyster shells for return to local waterways, where they can form new reefs, create habitat, improve water quality, and help slow shoreline erosion.
Conservation Research Center
Undergraduate and graduate interns studying conservation, biology, and related fields will gain hands-on experience through fieldwork and applied research as they build practical skills and prepare for careers in conservation. Conservancy staff will provide mentorship and field-based guidance, while student research contributes valuable knowledge that strengthens the Conservancy’ s science-based conservation and stewardship across our Sea Islands.
Environmental Education Center
A flexible gathering and learning space will welcome students, families, conservation partners, and the broader community for hands-on programs and workshops focused on native plants, wildlife, habitat restoration, living shorelines, water quality, cultural traditions, climate resilience, and the many connections between people and the natural world.
