BGGA has set out to develop the leadership skills of its students while creating encouraging and positive peer examples on campus. The program is made up of 12 senior ambassadors who will lead the student body, as well as 12 junior ambassadors who will use the program to learn and move up to be a senior ambassador. All students have to apply to be an ambassador and then be approved by a group of BGGA staff members. Prior to the start of the new school year, the ambassadors receive training through an orientation program to set the expectations for upcoming roles. And while skills are developed at BGGA, the students will take with them a set of skills they didn’t have, on to their future experiences. The Original You: Gregory Shen Gregory Shen, 17, from Vancouver Canada, started attending Bishops Gate Golf Academy two and a half years ago. Greg only took up golf four or five years ago and came to BGGA shooting in the 90s. This fall, Greg’s scoring average has consistently been in the 70s and he made it into a playoff to potentially win an event on the IJGT. While Greg didn’t win the playoff, his hard work and dedication have paid off. He’s had an incredible transformation in such a shot amount of time, especially since starting golf much later than most junior golfers. Greg’s story is unique and his high expectations keep him working on his game and always seeking new information to improve.
