DOMINATING
PERFORMANCE BY ANNE
YU EARNS HER FIRST
AJGA CHAMPION TITLE
Corey Lopez, who trains at Bishop’s Gate Golf
Academy (BGGA), held off Arkansas contingent
Maria Fassi chasing her to win the Mexican Women’s
Amateur.
Bishops Gate Golf Academy
(BGGA) student Anne Yu is
the first female champion
of a new AJGA season with
a win at the AJGA Foley
Performance Academy
@EaglesDream Junior
Championship at Timacuan
Golf & Country Club under
difficult weather conditions
(11-over-par 227).
Yu is currently 191 in the
Rolex AJGA Ranking, has had
six top-5 finishes in her AJGA career and her best
previous finish was solo third at the 2016 Golf Pride/
David Leadbetter Junior Golf Classic.
There were 14 former AJGA champions competing at
this year’s tournament, including six winners during
the 2018 season.
Congratulations Anne!
Interestingly enough, in another year and a half,
she’ll be one of those Razorbacks. Lopez, from
Monterrey, Mexico, is a high school junior who has
committed to play for the reigning SEC champions.
BGGA will have four alumni on the Razorback’s team
next year.
Lopez finished 72 holes at Guadalajara Country Club
with a 4-under total. It gave her a six-shot victory.
Congratulations Corey!
