For a franchise so enshrined within our culture,
it’s actually quite surprising to see just how
few Transformers videogames actually exist.
Particularly from the early TV series days. There
are, however, still plenty to explore, as you have
probably seen in this mag. Listed below is every
Transformers game released in the West (so not
including Japanese-exclusives), ranging from the
mid-’80s original to the film series and beyond.
The Transformers (1985) Sinclair
Spectrum, Commodore 64
The very first Transformers videogame was
released during the second series of the original
animated programme in 1985. It was a relatively
low-budget platformer developed for the two major
consoles of the time and posed a self-contained
robo-cloning story featuring five of the most
famous Autobots as playable characters. Humble
beginnings,
