season where their main focus is to become competitive.
But a disappointing start, including the
sessions in Bahrain where they were last only to
Lotus, is a worrying sign.
An all-new driver pairing heading into a
season such as 2014 may not be the best for the
side.
Japanese talent Kamui Kobayashi has been
given a second chance at the top flight as he
heads into his first year with the team. Swedish rookie Marcus Ericsson will have plenty of
learning to do.
Both drivers are up for the challenge, however, and are determined to show something for
all their hard work.
“Obviously for me this is my first race back,
and I’m really pleased it’s with Caterham,” said
Kobayashi. “I guarantee that they are working
as hard as anyone else to have a good year in
2014, and I’ve been very impressed with how
determined they are to succeed.
“There’s no reason we can’t have a good
year, particularly with what we have planned to
improve the car as the season goes on.
“We still don’t know exactly where we are
on performance, partly because you never do
in tests because you don’t know what everyone else is doing, but also because we didn’t
really have a chance to do a proper quali sim
