t is probably a little unfair to have Toro
Rosso amongst the teams expected to
be in the back-end of the grid, especially
following a solid pre-season.
Both Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne and
Russian rookie Daniil Kvyat were in the
top 12 of the overall timesheet during the
second week of Bahrain tests, which was
even better than their sister squad, World
champions Red Bull.
This, despite the well-documented troubles of power unit suppliers Renault.
But both Vergne and Kvyat have been
excited about finally getting the season
started and finally seeing where they really
stand amongst the entire field.
“I’m hoping that it will be different
this year, although who knows what we
can expect as the championship starts,”
said Vergne ahead of the season-opening
Australian Grand Prix, which would mark
his third season with Toro Rosso.
Debutant Kvyat is looking forward to
starting his maiden Grand Prix at just 19
years old.
“This year, no one has any idea what to
expect as you can tell from what happened
in Jerez and Bahrain,” he said. “It should
be very interesting and I can’t wait to be on
the grid for my first Grand Prix.” THE GAME
