Gemma Milly
Meet Gemma, our
favourite wedding
stationery designer
We cannot say how much we love Gemma’s work. It is beautiful, trendy, bespoke… perfect for our couples
planning a wedding abroad. What we love above all is that she can delicately illustrate elements of your
wedding venue(s) on your stationery, so when receiving your invitations your guests will have a feel of
where you will be taking them to!
We have asked Gemma to answer a few questions about herself and her work so you can learn a little more
about her amazing wedding stationery.
Can you tell us about what you do in a few words?
At Gemma Milly we specialise in creating beautiful and
unique stationery that will really set your wedding or
event apart, from start to finish. Every element of our
stationery is lovingly hand-crafted, from the delicate
illustrations to beautiful calligraphy.
Can you tell me about how your custom design
service works?
Of course - working with couples on custom design
projects is fantastic as every wedding is unique and
it’s exciting helping bring their vision to life. To begin
with, I ask couples to send me any images they’ve
collected and ask lots of questions to gain a good
understanding of what they’re aiming for. We will
then arrange an initial consultation either in person
or over the phone to discuss their ideas in more detail,
and look at paper samples and different print finishes.
Throughout the design process I stay in close contact
with couples either via email or over the phone, and
as I work with couples from all over the world skype
can be a great way to doing this too.
What inspires your illustrations and designs?
All sorts of things! My designs are often very feminine
and romantic, and I love combining calligraphy with
watercolour and hand-drawn illustrations to create
really individual designs. I like to try and give my work
a modern twist though so will always consider unusual
papers and finishes when consulting with clients.
If you could describe a wedding style that reflects
your personality, what would it be?
At the moment I’m really into mid-century design
and boho trends so elements of these have started
to creep into my work. I also love the idea of mixing
styles, so for my own wedding next June I will be
taking rustic elements and adding copper glitter and
beautiful calligraphy.
