Types of Retailers
There are many types of retailers and retail environments. These may range from kiosk stores to much larger department stores. Some retailers may even fit into more than one cagtogary. This is pretty normal for reetailers of today.
The following are all different types of retailers that you may come across:
Department Stores: These are much larger stores with various different department and consumers all under one roof. Department stores may have a range of different concessions and larger chains. They are usually in large retail areas and shopping centres. For example, Brent Cross shopping centre has Fenwick’s as well as John Lewis which are both two large department stores.
Specialist Store: These are usually much smaller stores that specialise in one product. For example, Swarovski specialise in luxury jewellery. For that reason, their stores are quite small. They will only need room to stock their small collection of goods. You would usually find these in your local shopping centre or high street.
Online retailers: These brands trade solely online. They can ship products nationally/internationally. They may be a part of a brand that have physical stores. Pretty Little Things is known as an e-commerce brand because they only have their online stores where as Zara have both physical as well as digital stores.
