Integration is the act or instance of combining into an integral whole. Also it is concerned with improved co-ordination so material and work information flows efficiently throughout the supply chain process. Non-integration is quite obviously the opposite of this.
Integration can be done both internally as well as externally. Internal integration is concerned with how the processes within a brand can be done more efficiently, this is quite often to do with technology. On the other hand external integration is concerned with how the external relationships of a brand can be further developed as well as improved.
Integration within the supply chains of a brand whether internally or externally can have a positive outcome on the whole process. It improves the flow of information from on department to another this may be from buying to supply chains and even merchandising. External integration between brands means that the can share data, information as well as goods between each other in a secure and fast environment.
