Navigating Cognitive Changes
in Parkinson’s
People with Parkinson’s disease (PD) and
their families have shared that thinking
and memory changes are among the most
concerning potential symptoms of the
disease. While not everyone will experience
these changes, regular conversations about
this under-addressed topic can help you
recognize symptoms, dispel stigma and drive
research forward. Parkinson’s, and what’s normal aging?,” said
Dave Iverson, broadcast journalist and founding
Patient Council member. “More information is
empowering. The Patient Council welcomed the
opportunity to provide input on this new guide
in order to offer families the knowledge and
resources to talk about a sensitive topic that’s
sometimes inadequately addressed at home or
even in the doctor’s office.”
The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s (MJFF)
new guide, “Navigating Cognitive Changes
in Parkinson’s Disease,” provides clarity
around different forms of cognitive changes,
practical strategies to boost brain health and

developed in collaboration with leading experts
— patients and families who live with PD and
the clinicians who care for them. Care partners,
social workers, members of MJFF’s Patient
Council and movement disorder physicians all
