TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO, Michael J. Fox made a monumental decision to start the foundation that bears his name. He believed then, as now, that an aggressively funded research agenda, coupled with the energy and drive of an engaged patient community, would fast-track results in the work toward a cure.

With co-founder Debi Brooks, Michael J. Fox launched MJFF in October 2000— nine years after publicly disclosing his Parkinson ' s diagnosis.
Today, The Michael J. Fox Foundation has become the largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson’ s research in the world. We have seen new and better treatments, breakthroughs in understanding the disease and a community that has been empowered through participation in fundraising, clinical research trials and community advocacy work.
