3 Tips for Summer Bassin
It’s that time, summer months are coming and the water temperature is rising, so it is time to break out the tried and true summer time bass techniques. Tip #1 Structure fishing in deep water. As the temperature rises in the day the fish will move deep. If you locate structure deep stay on it, they will be there you just need patience. Tip #2 night fishing, if it is just too hot to fish during the day then hit the water at night. Bass will come up from the deep, so a lot of your favorite shallow water spot should hold those summer time bass. Tip #3 early morning hours or late evening low light hours can also mean low weather temps. During these periods of day the temperature is low and the fish activity can be high. This has always been my most productive times just before sun rises or during sun set in the summer months.
I would say that the best bet when fishing deep is to fish it slow and steady. Big baits are the way to go, making it worth the effort for the bass to use energy and strike at your bait. It could take some time to get a bite; patience is the key in deep water fishing. If you are into early hour or later hour bass fishing in the summer, I feel noise and disturbance will make the difference. The bass are on the hunt so make your presentation known. Summer can seem tough to fish, but with some preplanning and patience you will catch more than just a sunburn.
