BIAS position: Sponsorship Director
What involvement have you had in Indigenous communities: I have lived in
a remote Indigenous community in Arnhem Land for two weeks, this incredible
experience involved spending time 'out bush' with the elders of the community,
helping out in classes and playing with the kids. I have also been on the BIAS
Social Justice Trip in 2010 and 2011.
Why did you join BIAS: I have lived in Indigenous communities and
experienced the immediate difference that can be made, in the lives of others.
Because of this I am passionate about Indigenous and want to make a
difference and spread awareness through Bond and the wider community.

Studying: Bachelor of International Relations
Position: Publications Director
Why did you become a part of BIAS: I have always been interested in
Indigenous issues, but I officially became an active member when I was lucky
enough to go on the first social justice trip. After that I realised I wanted to do
more. As silly as it sounds, I have always wanted to make a change in the world.
This was my avenue to do so, and the boys at that school inspired me. They still
do today.
What have you done while you’re on BIAS: I was originally given the position
of Promotions Director, where my role was to make posters and basically
advocate the cause, which is what I truly care about. I’m passionate about
education so it came naturally. Through that, I approached the exec with the
idea of ‘IndigiMail’, fortnightly publications to raise awareness. Basically, if you
see posters, publications or links on Facebook, that’s my role. I hope the person
who takes on from me loves it just as much as I do! It’s become a huge part of
my life.
