Directors , the Directors and their administrative staff , and the volunteers , who guided the institute during these years . Their leadership and partnering with the granting agencies made it possible for the visitors to enjoy and profit from their participation in the Institute ’ s scientific programs and workshops .
I have been fortunate to be involved in some of the scientific activities at the Institute over the years , especially in mathematical finance and , more recently , in digital math education . These visits provided me with on-site examples of the successful programs at the Institute . It is personally satisfying that the finance activities at the Fields Institute have continued and expanded to the point that they are now internationally regarded as among the very top meetings in the world . As mentioned in the tenth anniversary remarks , we started this seminar even before the permanent move to the present site in Toronto . And now , during my travels in North America and abroad , I constantly run into people who mention how their visits to the Institute to participate in the finance programs have impacted their own research programs and careers . Several of the early participants have returned to academic positions in Southern Ontario or have taken high-level positions in the Toronto banking community . I suggest that this is just one of the examples of how the Fields Institute fulfills its mandate and the dreams of its hard-working supporters .
