Events Something for everyone at NSA North Sheep 7th June, Tow Law » » NSA NORTH SHEEP WILL take place on Wednesday 7th June at West Shields Farm, Tow Law, County Durham, by kind permission of WH & J Smith & Sons. This is a key biennial event for the UK sheep industry and provides a platform for knowledge sharing and showcasing the latest industry trends and technology. Attracting in the region of 8,000 visitors, NSA North Sheep is a one day event where exhibitors can benefit from promotion to a dedicated audience of sheep farmers and industry professionals. This year’s event is kindly sponsored by Tow Law based rural chartered surveyors, Vickers & Barrass, in conjunction with Darlington Farmers Auction Mart. With a timetable packed full of seminars with several topical subjects including balancing upland farming and the environment also how could BREXIT affect export of sheep meat. Workshops covering health, progressive genetics and wool grading. Demonstrations including sheep dog handling, soil fertility, dry stone walling, butchery and BBQ. Competitions including the newly named Next Generation Shepherd Competition where budding young shepherds can compete for an impressive cash prize. The local Butsfield Young Farmers will be holding a stock judging competition for all to take part in. There will also be a strongly fought shearing competition which will see teams from the northern counties compete to be the best. Plus there will be a lamb festival celebrating the versatility of lamb as a product. Something for everyone, including the highly anticipated farm tours which will also offer visitors the opportunity to see how one progressive County Durham Farm operates their commercial sheep enterprise.
