Quarry View Farm
Both Rob and Callay firmly
believe that if you start properly,
the rest will take care of itself.
So, during the day Callay is
on cattle duty and Rob takes
over when he comes home at
night, something he really looks
forward to,Callay also takes
of the ‘bucket feeding of the
calves twice a day’
Quarry farm is a true family
concern: Callay has a son,
Harry who is ten and they also
have a son, Joseph, who is
now three. Joseph has the
same love for cattle as his
father and he is also a wow
at York Auction Centre as he
accompanies the family to
as many sales as possible!
Harry on the other hand is ‘Mr
Technical’ and cannot wait to
get his hands on the tractor
and machinery. When Callay
was pregnant with Jo they
adapted the Golf Buggy to
carry the milk mixer around
the farm to the calves so she
could continue easily without
struggling pulling it around..
Rob and Callay are a close
family and really believe in
using other family concerns
to support their business: two
of the most notable are Peter
Rhodes mobile feed service
– Callay said that Peter and
his team really have helped
enhance the quality and
health of the herd with their
impeccable service. The other
family concern is Scruton’s,
though a large family business
they manage to provide a very
personal, reliable service and
always ensure all machinery
is supported and in tip-top
condition.
As for the future, Rob and
Callay both said: “We would like
to see the herd expand to 300
and it would be great for both
Harry and Joseph to come into
the business if they want to.
Oh - and to complete that there
is the other major project - the
house!
Given their level of
dedication it seems clear that
they will get there and we wish
them well.
