Auction Centre who they think very highly of. The herd is now up to 200 Friesian Holsteins. Most of their new calves come from a farm in the north east – Rob originally sourced them from the internet- of all places. One of the biggest challenges in establishing the herd was pneumonia – partly owing
to all the animals being in sheds. They took the decision to switch to calf hutches and have never looked back.
“ It was one of the best decisions I ever made” Rob said.
The calves also grow quicker and all the sheds now have open sides.
