The die was cast. ‘We have a show team of three this year – two heifers and a bullock. We have already shown at Beef Expo in Stoneleigh, Great Yorkshire, Wensleydale, Reeth, Halifax, Stokesley, Pateley Bridge, Countryside Live and by the time you read this the Agri Expo in Carlisle. Our aim is always to do something good with them at the back end when it matters more. We choose the team for the season between us all in the early months of the year and this year that has included a British Blue X bullock out of Ruthin, a Limousin X heifer from 67762 - RiponFarmServices - 8th.pdf Leyburn and a British Blue heifer from Kirkby Stephen. They are kept at Jimmy’s until the Great Yorkshire and then at our farm for the rest of the year. That’s how we split the feed and time spent on them. ‘Our bullock and heifers will be up around the 600 kilo mark by the time of the winter shows. They need to be outstanding animals, to walk well and be full of meat. Our show stock are all fed a special compound mixture designed by Ryan White of Carrs Billington. Like many others we don’t make any money out of showing but we thoroughly enjoy it.
