None of that would, however,
have been possible if it had
not been for the quick action
of John, who last November
spotted that his father was
not looking well - and quickly
called an ambulance to get
him to hospital nearby in
Lancaster. This prompt action
certainly saved Geoff’s life –
the hospital discovered that
Geoff had suffered an aeortic
aneurism which, if not acted
upon quickly, is fatal – so had
Geoff just gone home he would
not have been here today. Ever
the hard-working professional,
even while en route to theatre
he was asking John who was
going to do the stock take! And
when shown the piece of pipe
the surgeon had fitted to his

heart,
he
typically remarked “We sell
that stuff”, also “I hope the
replacement pipe lasts longer
than the original has!”
