2020 has been a tough year for everyone , and as the pandemic still continues , we hopefully see some light at the end of the tunnel with vaccines been administered to help us try get back to normality . We take this time to fully appreciate all our customers new and old for your constant support throughout the years , but for mainly the last 12 months . It ’ s not been easy for anyone and without our customers then it wouldn ’ t have been possible .
We have been lucky enough to continue running during the pandemic , with reduced staff at certain times our main aim was to keep our customers on the road when they needed to be . As everyone knows the courier services were getting delayed with the amount of parcels coming through their depots , so we managed to send 2 delivery vans out so that our customers were guaranteed their parcels within the 1-2 working day period we offer .
During the pandemic and people being able to work from home , meant our workshop for fitting replacement engines , gearboxes and chassis has benefitted , as plenty people took this as an opportunity to get their pickup booked in for work doing . From 01 / 03 / 20 to 30 / 12 / 2020 we have fitted 78 engines , 12 gearboxes , 6 rear axles and 8 chassis swaps , plus MOT work ! We offer a collection and delivery service for all pickups book in our workshop which meant no unnecessary travel for some of our customers .
We are currently in the stages of getting 1 more ramp fitted into our workshop to be able to be able to keep up with the demand of fitting jobs and to help get through the work load that we hope to receive in 2021 .
We are extremely pleased to announce we have passed our VRA certification scheme audit , this is the first of its kind in the UK and not only a huge step forward for us as a business , but a huge leap for the the entire industry . The new industry standard enables us to supply safe re-used green parts and offers traceability of that parts history to our customers . The scheme also ensures we operate within the law complying with all the government regulations .
Our new gearbox , engine , and axle warehouse has also just been completed where the parts are all cleaned and tested before being put onto a pallet and stored ready for purchase or fitting . We are trying to keep up with the demand for used 4x4 pickup parts , so will also be installing 2 more ramps ready for CAT B vehicles , so they can be dismantled ready for you to purchase replacement parts for .
Expanding and investing into our future is something we are very much about here at Thornton ’ s , we feel the new scheme shows our customers we are willing to go that extra mile .
