42 FARMSTAR FEB/MAR 2020 • farmers-mart.co.uk will be in attendance for all to see and will be auctioned off at the end of the evening (as so much interest has been expressed in it already)! A lot of work went into the machinery displays, both in the yard and inside the marquee. New this year was the Farmstar exhibition unit, which was serving teas, coffees and soup all day. Teas and coffees were as usual being served inside as well, along with loads of biscuits to keep you going. Lunchtime this year was different too – no handmade sandwiches and pork pies, but instead a real farmers treat - pulled pork, stuffing and apple sandwiches, courtesy of the Striped Pig company. This was situated outside right in front of the show caravan. What a surprise, this seemed to draw an unusually large number of farmers to visit the outside stands. Talking To Andrew, he was pleased that attendance on the day was around 1200, which is an increase on 2019, but also more people from further afield such as Newark and, as well, a steady flow which worked admirably as more stands could be visited and Farmstar’s team, along with the guys from the manufacturers, had more time to spend with farmers. This has resulted in a lot more deals on the day and good leads to follow up. Andrew suggested when we met up that it would take the rest of January and most of February to follow them up. Here, as elsewhere, there was a really positive mood and even the weather wasn’t as cold as it has been in the past. It was a great celebration day and marker of thirty successful years. Andrew and the entire Farmstar team know the value of looking after custom- ers old and new. The group will continue to develop and grow and we wish them continued success. We Save Lives, One Day it Could be Yours The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is an independent Charity providing a life-saving rapid response emergency service to 5 million people across the whole of Yorkshire. The service is operational seven days a week, 365 days a year. To keep both of Yorkshire’s Air Ambulances maintained and in the air, the YAA needs to raise £12,000 every single day, which is the equivalent of £4.4m a year. The generosity that we receive really is the life blood of the Charity. Saving Lives Across Yorkshire www.yaa.org.uk
