Carlisle To Host New ‘Total
Dairy Expo’ Conference
»»Dairy farmers and industry
members will be able to hear from a top line
up of dairy experts at a new half day technical
conference to be held in association with the
UK Dairy Expo in Carlisle.
The ‘Total Dairy Expo’ has been
developed by organisers of the Total Dairy
Seminar - previously known as the Large
Herd Seminar - and has been designed to
bring a leading technical event to a prime
dairying region in the North West.
The ‘Total Dairy Expo’ will take place on
the afternoon of Friday 6 March 2015 at
Carlisle Racecourse, a stone’s throw away
from Borderway Mart which will host the UK
Dairy Expo the following day.
The new conference fits with the general
ethos surrounding the rebranded Total
Dairy Seminar which will take place on 10
and 11 June 2015 in Gloucestershire. Both
events aim to provide the latest thinking in
dairy cow management relevant to all UK
dairy producers, regardless of size.
Richard Vecqueray from EBVC, which
organises the Total Dairy events, explained
that the four key speakers at the ‘Total
Dairy Expo’ will be covering a broad range
of topics from nutrition, to cow health and
people management.
“Professor Jon Huxley from Nottingham
University Vet School will be talking about
the link between cow body condition and
lameness, while Californian farmer, Hank
Van Exel will be speaking about herd
management protocols, before judging the
Holstein classes at the UK Dairy Expo,” he
said.
Vet James Husband from EBVC will
also be giving his thoughts on dairy cow
nutrition and independent consultant Dr
Mike Wilkinson, will talk about how to make
top quality silage.

Mike Christian from Elanco, lead sponsors
of the event along with Zinpro, said:
“The ‘Total Dairy Expo’ and evening meal
will be a great chance to learn, meet old
friends and make new ones, before seeing
the show cows and the trade stands at
the Saturday UK Dairy Expo organised by
Harrison and Hetherington.
David Pritchard, director of operations
for Harrison & Hetherington says the two
events dovetail perfectly together.
“The two events will provide dairy
farmers with a showcase for them to see
some of the finest dairy livestock in the
UK and gather the latest information on all
aspects of the dairy industry.”
Tickets to the ‘Total Dairy Expo’ and
evening meal are separate to the UK
Dairy Expo and can be purchased at www.
totaldairy.com which also has information
about Total Dairy Seminar.
